It's like the best of the old neighborhood markets that virtually don't exist anymore; that is, this store offers outstanding personal attention and service in every department (particularly in my case -- the produce department). Groceries and bottled water that are top quality and hard to find are carried here. I've found that the greens in "clamshell" containers last longer than from anywhere else. All of the employees are cheerful, friendly, and helpful. The music isn't too loud. Senior discount of 10% on Mondays. A total gem.

EXCEPTIONAL We have lived in the desert for many years and have received and given flowers from many area vendors. But our recent experience with Miguel at Jensen's in Palm Desert was truly exceptional. Not only were Miguel's arrangements gorgeous, but he went out of his way to make sure the arrangements met our expectations. Miguel not only met our expectations - he exceeded them! * Spectacular arrangements. * Wonderful customer care. * Exceptional service. Thank you, Miguel.

An overall fine grocery market. The fish is from Santa Monica Seafood Co. The staff is always helpful, from butcher to bakery and in between. I've ordered custom birthday cakes and they were delicious, creative and reasonably priced. In the fish department, if they don't have what you are looking for, they offer to bring it in. The produce is always very fresh. You'll find those hard to find ingredients, like fresh horse radish! I know I'm always getting top quality food and service!

It's definitely one of my favorite grocery stores. They carry a lot of items, not carried by other stores. For example, they carry some items from Sees Candies. And they carry certain frozen desserts and ice creams not found elsewhere. I especially like their bakery and their deli. I am in there several times a week just to buy the seafood salad from the deli. It is truly delightful. And their blue cheese potato salad is awesome. The bakery has wonderful rum cake. Lots of cookies and breakfast rolls, too. Occasionally, they do a barbecue out front. It's such a great store.

This review is for the bakery, as after many recommendations I decided to order a BDAY Carrot cake for a friend. I had never really frequented this particular location, as I used to live near the one that was sold in RM. When I entered I was floored at how large this store actually is, basically a full blown store with all the necessities. The bakery had quite a bit of temptations as I ordered the cake, so I dabbled with a small XMAS cookie and a piece of Baklava. DELISH!! Anyhoo, I picked up the cake on Sunday and we cut that sucker open after we had some pizza & salad. Let me tell you, the cake was excellent. Yes, it had the cream cheese frosting but it wasn't overbearing and it wasn't slapped on with a trowel. It was present but it was not consuming at all. Same goes for the innards of the carrot cake. All the ingredients were there but the sugar meter wasn't BLARING with 1/2 or even 1/4 of my piece still sitting on the plate. It was very nice to enjoy a FRESH carrot cake that didn't seem dry or over packed with too much sugary sweetness, although you know it was hiding. Yes, there are other spots I could have gotten a really good cake for cheaper, but I was happy, exposing myself to this bakery and store. I will not hesitate to visit in the future even if I have Bristol Farms at a stone's throw from our casa.

Jensen's is an interesting store. They have a very good Bircher shop, along with service counter deli. The selection is good, not great on the grocery side. I visited each aisle and didn't really see anything that you couldn't find much cheaper at Ralph's, Walmart, Stater Brothers or Vons. If I want to spend more, and price is not an issue, I would rather shop at Gelson's or Bristol Farms for a better selection of different, or unusual items that you cannot find at the other chains. Jensen's is local, and family owned which is nice. I wonder how they compete with the larger chains along with Gelson's and Bristol Farms though.

Jensen's Foods is the closest market to my house in Palm Desert. Hence they are a valuable resource when I need food fast, don't want to drive far. I can say many good things and a few bad things about this market. Fortunately the good outweigh the bad making them a solid 4 star establishment. Let's start with the good; 1. The staff working here are exceptional. They understand old world customer service 101. I have received consistent kind treatment. 2. They carry unusual products which no one else in the Coachella Valley are willing to stock. The liquor department stock 100s of items you'll never see at Total Wines. 3. Selective prepared foods are quite delicious; e.g., lobster pot pie, stuffing. However, these items are not offered on a regular basis. 4. Excellent produce aisle. They understand quality and freshness. 5. Exceptional baked goods. 6. Best grapefruit juice (fresh) on Earth for $4.99 quart. 7. Great availability of kitchen gadgets. 8. When they have a sale it is a great sale. So if you're on a budget take a look at their specials. They also offer 10% off for seniors on Mondays. Keep in mind though that this is not a cheap place to shop. Now the bad; 1. Some of their prepared foods need help. E.G., they should avoid Mexican. I had Chile rilenos here which were not edible. Really need to be careful with prepared stuff as this department is hit or miss. 2. Often common items are out of stock. E.G., I wanted a regular canister of salt - nothing fancy, just salt. They were out. They had 25+ specialty salts. 3. Juice section lacks specialty juices. I have to drive to Bristol Farms and/or Gelson's when I want something unusual. 4. I can't get good pate here? This one makes zero sense to me. They sell amazing wines and champagne, have affluent shoppers. No reason to make me drive to Bristol Farms guys. All in all I am delighted to have this fine establishment near my house.
